We are using a VSX 7000e for video arraignment. Connecting camera outputs to an Extron 422 PIP in order to display attorney and judge simultaneously. Am able to see both cameras display in camera window on call screen, but am unable to navigate or use anything on call screen--can't initiate calls, scroll, modify numbers, scroll to system settings. An 'alert' indicator shows in the system tray for 20-30 seconds, but am unable to scroll down to see it.
When unit is connected without Extron, all functions work normally. Connection diagram attached. We've been using basically the same setup on a VSX 8000 for years.

Sounds like the remote control has stopped working. If this is the case that alert may be a remote battery indicator. I assume you have changed the batteries.
You can see if the remote is functioning by looking for the flashing infra red lights on the end of the remote. The human eye cannot see them but a camera will pick then up. Aim the remote towards a camera and watch the monitor while you press some buttons on the remote. If the remote is functioning you will see the lights in the remote flash.
