I'm setting up an RSS 4000 with an SSL cert from GoDaddy. The RSS 4000 accepts the cert fine and internally shows that it has the proper information. But when I bring the RSS up in a browser, I get a certificate error and the cert says it was issued to 'My Company Ltd.'

Have you seen this before and if so, how to fix it please?

Thanks,

Steve

Steve,

When you say you get a certificate error, do you mean you see this message when you web to the RSS:

Cert.jpg

If so, that is normal behavior when using the default certificate. And the default certificate has the following issuer:

C=GB, ST=Berkshire, L=Newbury, O=My Company Ltd

So it sounds like your GoDaddy cert was not loaded successfully.

I would recommend that you try loading it again. And make sure you are using IE8 when you load the certificate. That is the officially tested and supported browser environment for management of the RSS 4000, and while other browsers will often work, they are not tested as fully as IE8. If that does not work then you should call in to Polycom Support and open a service request so we can gather logs and attempt to determine the cause for the certificate failure.

Thanks for the suggestion. The RSS 4000 was reporting that the cert was loaded successfully and when I was getting the cert error, I used the Reboot option with no improvement. Last evening, my tech had a reason to reboot our DNS server and this morning the cert on the RSS 4000 is working perfectly. Not sure how a reboot of the DNS server might affect things, but that appears to be the only thing that's changed, but everything is working correctly now.

Thanks for the suggestion,

Steve
