Polycom SoundStation 2 - Occasional FastBusy when calling into GoToMeeting

Hello!

We have an issue with our Polycom SoundStation 2 that generally happens in this instance:

- We call into a GoToMeeting call

- We begin to dial the meeting ID, find that it's incorrect, and then hang up

- We then dial again and get a fast busy

Or similarly:

- We call into a GoToMeeting call

- We dial the meeting ID for a reoccurring meeting to test the meeting a few minutes before the meeting starts

- Once the metting is tested, we hang up

- We then dial to GoToMeeting again when the meeting starts and get a fast busy

While I understand that the workarounds for these two instances are "wait for the incorrect meeting prompt and enter those numbers" or "don't test the meeting beforehand, just call in and start the meeting a little early to test", my concern is moreso that it seems the analog line is held open somehow when I hang up on these calls and try to dial back in from this phone.

As this doesn't happen with our fax lines, those being the other analog lines in our system, my thought keeps going back to the PoE injector that takes in the phone line and power, and then runs an ethernet line to the phone. This has happened with multiple Ethernet lines, however I have before been able to reset the phone as the issue is happening to resolve the issue. That didn't work this time, however.

I've had this happen with multiple phone systems, and when the phone is having this problem, users cannot dial out of the building until the line finally closes. Both devices of which this has occurred for me have been SoundStation 2 phones going through an Avayy phone system, but most recently an Avaya Merlin Magix system.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Hello acrksmith,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

The SoundStation 2 is an analog phone with no PoE or Ethernet connection so I am unsure why you mentioned this.

If you are using some sort of analog converter please work with whoever is supplying this. Based on your comment the issue does not happen when you are using a "real" analog line.

Re: Polycom SoundStation 2 - Occasional FastBusy when calling into GoToMeeting

Hello!

The converter I'm talking about is the 2201‑16020‑001 Polycom SoundStation 2 Wall Module, which takes an Analog phone line and a power source, and then an Ethernet cable runs from the module to the phone, thereby powering and operating the phone via that Ethernet cable.

It's a Polycom device that came with the phone, so that's why I'm trying to see if this has ever been reported before.

Thanks!

Re: Polycom SoundStation 2 - Occasional FastBusy when calling into GoToMeeting

Hello acrksmith,,

this is simply the power modul for the phone and the original cable is a special RJ cable that will not fit into a RJ45 socket due an additional "nose" on the side of the cable.

The cable does not carry a Ethernet signal and simply provide the power to the phone and the analog line to the phone..

Again this does not have to do anything with the issue you describe. Simply try plugging the phone into your homephone analog line and try to replicate the same.
