Hi

At the moment we have 2 Polycom Soundstation 2 phones.  One is the Direct Connect version for Nortel, the other is for a UK standard analogue phone line.
We have recently moved into rented premises.  They do not have the Nortel system in the temporary premises, but they do use Polycom IP 300 phones on each desk.  We were wondering if we could connect our Direct Connect for Nortel soundstation 2 to the IP 300 using the mobile phone 2.5mm connector.  In that way we could use the superior audio quality and external microphones on the soundstation for conferences.  I tried this out, but the Nortel soundstation just keeps flashing "Initializing".  I also tried to connect the IP300 to the analogue soundstation, but this does not work either.

Is there any way to get this to work as I describe?
Thanks
Roger Holme

Hello Roger,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

The SoundStation 2 Nortel Direct Connect will not boot up without a Nortel System connected to it. The Software is designed to emulate a Nortel M2616 Model 20 Phone.

The IP300 in Question could be a SoundPoint IP300 and only has an optional Headset input/output.

I am not sure it has been designed to be utilized the way you intend to connect these units together.

Best Regards
