The Sound Station 2W has been working solid for 5 years (S/N is 0F081133BABF9) untill we tried to update the  software version!! and now its stuck in the "Please wait ........." screen for ever !!!!

We  followed this document -->

http://downloads.polycom.com/voice/soundstation/SS2W_Software_Upgrade_Instructions_Version_1_607_CVM...

 

 but it fails at step 8. We can see couple of bars on the "Download Progress" area but thats that. !

 

So then as per Failure Scenario 4 we reebot the phone and try again but always it fails at Step 8 and the phone alaways sits on " Please Wait".

 

Can someone  please help ?..can't belive a working phone was broken trying to upgarde to a all singing & dancing newer software :(.

 

By the way I used a windows 7 64 pro laptop.

Hello SCIL,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

Was there a specific requirement to upgrade the unit i.e. any issues not working ?

 

We had some reports in the past of users stating a similar issue as yourself but most of these users never replied to any follow up questions.

 

In one occasion I even retrieved the unit and shipped it to our engineering team who used the same software and upgraded the unit in the first attempt without issues.

 

Unfortunately some modern antivirus or firewall products may affect the upgrading tool or prevent it from working correctly and I can only advise you to utilize a different PC or reboot your PC.
