What are the steps after I put caller on hold, press transfer to tell someone who is calling, then hang up to take caller off hold to tell caller I'm transferring, then transfer the call.

Hello Linda,
welcome to the Polycom Community.
Is this on one of our analog Phones?
This completely depends on the PABX / Analog Line you are using. Please contact your line provider.
Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.
Best Regards
