Checking status of Trio device remotely

Checking status of Trio device remotely

We have had a few log out issues on our trio devices. I'd like to set all of ours up in a monitoring system so we get alerted if a trio is logged out of skype for business. Is there an easy way to do this? I was starting to look at the REST api - is something published via this to determine it's logged in status?

Re: Checking status of Trio device remotely

Hello Stew,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

It is always useful to include the currently used UC Software version as issues experienced or a question asked may already be addressed in a newer release.

This also allows yourself and others to check against current software release notes, Administrator Guides or FAQ post’s.

The above is also stated in the "Must Read First" and is the absolute minimum requirement every new post should include. .

In addition providing us with this basic information gives Polycom an idea what Software Versions are used in the field and avoids wasting time trying to troubleshoot issues which have already been addressed.

Therefore the Polycom VoIP FAQ contains this post here:

Question: How can I find out my SIP or UC Software Version of my Phone?
Resolution: Please check here

In addition:

Nov 10, 2014 Question:How can I check the status of a Polycom SoundPoint IP, SoundStation IP or a VVX Phone?

Resolution: Please check => here <=

Version is 5.5.2.11338. I need a way to check the status in a monitoring system, I don't want to log onto the web gui (on every trio in our environment!).

Re: Checking status of Trio device remotely

Hello Stew,

As outlined in the post quoted the Trio or the VVX can "send" this status to an application.

You simply need to write yourself (or get someone to do this for you) an application / socket that captures this data and represents this to you.

Or work with a Polycom sales engineer on a demo of RealPresence Resource Mananger 10.2

Re: Checking status of Trio device remotely

Hi Steffen,

Thanks, it's something I can look into - do you know whether this push method will push a message when the skype for business login state changes?

I'd rather use the API, that way we can periodcally query for just the messages we are after, and not get bombarded by all the trios every time stuff changes (ie phone calls, joining conferences etc).

I tried this briefly and got this error:

root@test:~# curl https://1.1.1.1:443/api/ --insecure --user Polycom:xxxxxx
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//IETF//DTD HTML 2.0//EN">
<html><head><title>404 Not Found</title></head><body>
The document requested was not found on this server.

Is there something more involved than simply enabling it? (ie uploading the API to the device)

Cheers

Re: Checking status of Trio device remotely

Hello Stew,

the REST API is not for end customers and I cannot provide you with details on this.

You can either use:

Nov 24, 2014 Question:Can the Phone send Telephony Event Notifications?

Resolution: Please check => here <=

Above sends events when anything changes.

or

Nov 10, 2014 Question:How can I check the status of a Polycom SoundPoint IP, SoundStation IP or a VVX Phone?

Resolution: Please check => here <=

Re: Checking status of Trio device remotely

Understood. I've actually just trying the phone state pollers using requester and it shows whether the phone is logged in or out! Cheers
