Polycom Trio Skype Sign in Failed

I am having issues setting up a Polycom Trio 8800.

The time server is set up properly.

The account is licensed to be used on the device.

Timezone is set.

I was able to log into Skype with the user account on a PC with Skype for Business.

I have updated to the latest firmware.

UC Software Version 5.4.4.7776

 

The skype account is a meeting room name. One theory myself and a coworker came up with is the length of the UPN.

With the naming scheme that we use at the company, that's how long it has to be.

Before submitting a ticket to have that modified, I would like any other suggestions.

welcome to the Polycom Community.

The logs show multiple DNS errors and the phone then issues a 480 as it cannot connect.

 

Jan 17, 2017 Question:How can I troubleshoot simple Skype for Bussines, LYNC or Office365 issues?

The entire sign in username is 63 characters long.

That is including the companyname.onmicrosoft.com.

we had feedback from Microsoft and the officially supported length of a full UPN name is 45 characters aka name@domain

Thanks for the update from Microsoft Steffen.

 

We created a new room and made the room name 10 characters shorter than it was when it wouldn't sign in.

The new room name UPN is still 51 characters which is over the supported count of 45 and it seems to be working fine.

 

Is their anything noticable with having the name larger than the officially supported length?

Hello cade,

I can only tell you what Microsoft told us. If you utilize a longer name and it works for you that is fine but we can only support what Microsoft gave us as an official answer.

 

This may stop working in the future as you are utilizing an unsupported length.
