Hello,

I basically need to know if we can run SIP and Skype on either 2200-48600-019/2200-48500-019  or 2200-48600-025/2200-48500-025 SKUs with UC 5.6. firmware so that we don't have to worry about upgrading to different phone models if we want to switch users from CloudPBX to SIP or vice versa.

I have a VVX 601 (2200-48600-019) that I am testing with Skype for Business Cloud PBX / PSTN and FreePBX. It's working well with SfB Online. I was able to connect VVX601 to FreePBX and make calls and do everything VoIP but it stopped working after 3/4 days and won't register even after factor rest.

We are planning to deploy about 12+ phones for new startup but want the flexiblity to move between SIP/Office365 as stated previously without the hassel of getting new phones.

Any information would be helpful.

Thanks

Hello computingbee,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

The community's Skype for Business FAQ contains this post here:

Jan 25, 2016 Question:How many Lines can I register using Polycom phones with Lync Server / Skype for Business server ?

Resolution: You can register only one line when Lync is set as the base profile on the phone.  The RealPresence Trio has an experimental Feature => here <=

Thanks Steffen.

I am not looking to run SIP and Skype on the same phone. What I need to know is that do I need to buy two different SKUs or will 2200-48500-019 (VVX 501 Skype for Business) also work with Open SIP when I change the profile to Generic or do I need to buy 2200-48500-025 – VVX 501 to run SIP. I will be using UC 5.6.0.

Hello computingbee,

In that case you must purchase the -019 SKU as that already has the additional Skype for Business license but allows you to swap back to OpenSIP and back to Skype again.
