Trying to correctly configure a Spectralink 8020 to connect to an external Lync 2010 server, does anyone know if this is even possible without a SIP trunk between my office and the SIP host? If not, will the 8400 series phones do this without an appliance in house? The idea here is to remove all maintenance/management from the local office, so adding an appliance to support SIP trunking would defeat it.
Thanks.

Hello Nullifier,
welcome to the Polycom Community.
The 80xx Series is SIP only and would need a gateway between the LYNC Server and their SIP Server.
The 8400 Series recently received an Software Update 4.1.0 which has not yet made publicly available so I am unable to share the exact details of the supported features.
Once I can comment on this I will update this post.

Thanks Steffen. This seems to be the answer everyone gives, so I'm going to accept that it cannot be done! :)
