8440 - Web config - no login

I try to setup my first spectra 8440 device over the web config utility. I can sucessfully connect to the website of the 8440 handset, which presents me a login page to prompt me for "User Name" and "Password". Unfortunately the login with administrator or admin and 456 does not work (Invalid user name or Password).

The Device is configured with the UC Release 4.0.0.27000 and the Components Version is 6.3.0.0044. The Admin Login on the handheld itself does work fine.

Can you help me?

Hello Bueschu,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

I am only aware of the Admin Password 456 that should be the same on the Phone's Gui and the Web Interface.

The User Password is 123.

I can only suggest to factory default the Unit via the GUI and then provision the Phone either via USB or WiFi with the latest UCS 4.0.2 Rev B that is available from the Polycom Support Page.

Unfortunately the factory reset does not help and I don't have any USB cable for the spectralink device. What can I do know?

Hello Urs,

the Spectralink USB Connector is a industry standard Micro USB (Micro-B) as many other manufacturers use to synchronize /charge their phones.

As you said above the Login ask's for a Username, any Polycom Phone uses the Username Polycom and the Password 456 as the Password for the Administrator. The User Password for a limited Web Interface /  Menu is 123.

I would strongly advise you to study the Best Practices for Deploying Polycom® SpectraLink® 8400 Series Handsets Guide => here <= before you continue with your Installation and in addition liaise with your Polycom Reseller as they should be your first point of contact for any support related issues.

In early versions where the user name is asked for it is actually "Polycom" (the username is case-sensitive) and 456 for the password.

On more recent versions there will be no username field and instead a pair of radio buttons to select either 'Admin' or 'User'.  The default Admin password is 456 and the default User password is 123.
