Polycom 8440 Features - Custom Softkey Settings

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the Polycom line of products and as I expected I'm hitting a wall when it comes to programming the Softkeys on the 8440 phones.

I've managed to setup the VoIP system (Shoretel), Provisioned fine, and everything is working flawlessly. However, the client wants specific Softkeys to be displayed on the phones. I've read the setup guide for configuring the softkeys and amended the features.cfg file according to the document. But when I reboot the phones, the same standard Softkeys are present.

Im hoping that someone out there is an expert in this area and would be willing to give me some guidance. If someone has done this in a ShoreTel environment that would be great too.

I'm hoping someone can clarify and help me with the programming of the 8440 softkeys. I've tried calling Polycom and Shoretel for help but without success and I'm not sure if what I'm trying to do is possible at all.   So, my problem.   When you switch on the 8440 phones, the default softkeys at the bottom of the display are 'Speed Dial' 'Profile' 'Speaker' 'Favorites'. What I'm trying to do is change these to something like 'Park' Page' 'Transfer'. I've not managed to do this and I'm wondering if these defaults are locked somehow. What I have managed to accomplish is the programming of speed dial and 'Park, Page, & Transfer as a fly out menu from favorites.   The client Im working with wants to mimic the softkeys and appearance of the Shoretel desk phones, but so far I've been unsuccessful.   I hope you can help with this as I would really appreciate it.   thanks
