Good afternoon.

I am trying to use a mobile phone (on Vodafone mobile data connection), either using Android RealPresence app or via a Laptop with Telepresence tether to the Vodafone network. The RealPresence app shows the internal address issues to the device by Vodafone.

When I call the public address of our Polycom HDX, it displays the PRIVATE address of the phone. The network must be NATting this traffic for it to reach our router, however, I can't see how the HDX can possibly be displaying the PRIVATE address.

Monitoring the traffic shows that the HDX is trying to reply to this PRIVATE address. This means that the HDX is able to receive the video and audio from the phone, however, all reply traffic is lost, so the phone does not receive any data back.

To confuse things even further, the control session stays active, without a problem. It will continue to show the video and audio from the phone, however, when the HDX hangs up, the phone receives the termination of the session.

This is the same case if the device is connected directly to the router on its own public address (NO NATTING) or when going through a firewall (again with its own Public Address -> NATted to its internal address.

I'm loosing my mind trying to figure out how this is possible. As private addresses could never pass through the internet routers.

Regards

Neil
