Hello all,

We recently upgraded our Polycom HDX 8000 system in the US, but are opening an office in South America and would like to use our old Polycom for that office. The problem is that the US is 120v and SA is 220v. Would it be an issue to use a power converter for this device or is there a way to use a 220v plug with it?

I don't want to blow the thing up so I'm curious if anyone knows. We may have to purchase a new one, but I'm trying to avoid that.

Thoughts?

Thanks,

T

there would be more issues than just the power.  The system is designed to support either NTSC or PAL video formats.  The US uses NTSC, the majority of the rest of the world uses PAL.  if the part number of the codec (on the label on the bottom) ends in -001 it is NTSC, if -002 it is PAL.

NTSC is 60Hz power cycles whereas PAL is 50Hz.  Using the wrong one can cause the images to flicker.

Addiitionally you would be responsible for all the importation paperwork.

The recommendation is not to attempt this.
