When I plug in my VSX 8000 it flashes a blue light on the power button and the speakers come on for a second but the unit does not power up. I've tried a working power cord and different working outlet. It's plugged into a fully functioning UPS as well. Any ideas?

It may be possible that the monitor signal type may have changed so you are not seeing anything on the monitor.  When booting up press the '*' (star) key on the remote to boot into VGA mode or the '#' (pound) key for NTSC (s-video).

If this still does not work give our Support Help Desk a call.  (888) 248 4143

Try it again with just a monitor & power, unplug all other peripherals AT THE CODEC END.  I'm trying to see if a faulty pweripheral or mic/camera cable could be "pulling down" the VSX PSU.  Pete

Thanks Pete! That was it! The connections for the Cameras weren't snapped on properly. I reseated them and the unit now works.

Horeayyyyyy!

Just 1 word of caution.  If a peripheral doesn't have an obvious source of local power it's being powered by the main system (in our case the codec).

Don't hot plug peripherals powwered by the codec. Unplug the mains before plugging mics & cameras in or out.

Happy Tuesday.
