I've been messing with this for several days now and scanning the community for solution with no success.

I'm running Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 (64-bit OS) on a Lenovo Thinkpad laptop.

I've followed the install instructions to the letter and currently have Polycom Communicator 3.0.0.29 and Skype 7.35.0.103 installed.

When I plugin the C100S to any USB port, I get the USB Device Not Recognized error. Other USB devices have been verified in every USB port with no issues.

Now, the kicker...if I place the laptop in a docking station (port replicator) and plug the C100S into a USB on the docking station; SUCCESS! The computer recognizes it and I've attended conference call...everything works!

I have confirmed that the on board USB ports do not work with the C100S regardless if the computer is docked or not. But every port has enough power to charge my latest generation iPad.

The problem is I am normally not in an office with a docking station and I don't intend to carry one around with me. Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution?

Hello msudderth,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

Have you tried this unit in another PC as of yet ?

Thanks for the reply, Steffen. I have not tried the device on another computer. Since I have had the device working on this conmputer I've focused on determining why it only works in one configuration. Connecting to another computer would only rule out a defective C100S.

I did however find a way to get the C100S to work again. This time through the USB ports on a monitor.

I have concluded that the laptop i(Lenovo W540) is not provding enough power through the USB ports to power the C100S. I will confirm this by picking up a small powered USB hub and try again. I will post the results here.

Hello msudderth,

I personally have a Lenovo W541 and prior to this a W520 and both of them operated my C100S running Windows 7 without issue.

Thanks for the feedback, Steffen,

For giggles I placed a portable USB hub (unpowered) into the laptop then plugged the C100S into the hub.

Suprise! It works!

I created a video here.

I can't explain why it works through another device but does not work directly into the computer. This is an acceptable workaround for me for now. But if you run across anything you would want me to try, let me know.
