I have recently purchased the Polycom VVX 201 phones and when we plug in our wired Plantronics Encorepro HW710/HW720 wired headsets into the Headset/ RJ-9 port.  The dialed party/individual cannot hear the user using the headset microphone very well.  The headset is working and the volume of the mic to the dialed party individual is very, very low.  We are not using amplifiers but curious if there is a phone setting that can be configured in the Web Management interface (or whereever) to increase the volume gain of the Microphone of the headset.  We have no issues with the handset volumes.

If this is not possible, could you provide me a list of supported wired / wireless headsets for this phone please.

Please advise... thanks...

Marcel

Hello MadMaxEdm,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

It is always useful to include the currently used UC Software version as issues experienced or a question asked may already be addressed in a newer release.

This also allows yourself and others to check against current software release notes, Administrator Guides or FAQ post’s.

The above is also stated in the "Must Read First" and is the absolute minimum requirement every new post should include. .

In addition providing us with this basic information gives Polycom an idea what Software Versions are used in the field and avoids wasting time trying to troubleshoot issues which have already been addressed.

Therefore the Polycom VoIP FAQ contains this post here:

Question: How can I find out my SIP or UC Software Version of my Phone?
Resolution: Please check here

In regards to your actual question.

In regards of any Gain settings due to local regulations none of these should be modified before prior consulting with Polycom support.

Please work with your Polycom reseller to open a Service Ticket if these units are still in warranty or work with your Polycom reseller to raise a PayPerIncident ticket.

Hi there,

The UC version I am using with the phone is: 5.4.2.6722.  Updater version: 5.6.2.5888

In regards to increasing the microphone gain volume.  I purchased the phones online and not sure if that online reseller would be my Polycom reseller, I would assume not.  The units are brand new so I would assume there is warrantly, How should I procede?

As for seeing compatible headsets, thanks for the knowledge base article.  My headset model is not on the list, so it means that it has never been certified/ tested, but may work???  Guess I was hoping from the community maybe if others have these Plantorincs Encore HW710 / HW720 headsets working for them and what they needed to do to get them working.

Please let me know, thanks for your assistance. Marcel

Hello MadMaxEdm

Simply post your MAC address and I will be able to look this up once back in the office. using the headset manufacturer you chose should be fine as we no longer verify every single headset.

Hello MadMaxEdm,

The VVX201 was sold via INGRAM MICRO CANADA back in 23/08/2017 and they can open a ticket for you.
