I would like to reconfigure the "New Call" softkey which appears on the home page of my phone to where my "voicemail" softkey is located which requires 2 presses of the "more" softkey and vice-versa reconfigure the "voicemail" softkey to the homepage.

My phone is a new VVX400 ip device.

Would need step by step process of how to reconfigure the phone using what I suspect is the .cfg file.

Is it possible to edit the current file making a couple of simple edits and reloading to updates these parameters. Would need step by step on that process as well.

Been out of this business for many years so lacking basic knowledge of the procedure.

Any hell appreciated.

My vendor doesn't know how to do it.

Thanks

Hi Steffen

Thank you for your reply. The post you refferred me to appears to be exactly what I am lookig for but unfortunately assumes a level of core compendency I don't possess.

I did try to stumble my way forward begining with opening up a session using my browser and the IP address of the phone but get a message that the page cannot be displayed. I can ping the address from the same computer with no problem.

Anything out there bordering on the "idiot's guide" level?

🙂

Hello lobrien,

It is always useful to include the currently used software version and in addition the SIP server that is being used.

Therefore the Polycom VoIP FAQ contains this post here:

Question: How can I find out my SIP UC Software Version or the BootROM Version of my Phone?
Resolution: Please check here

If you are for example using LYNC and a Software Version later than UCS 5.1.0 the Web Interface is automatically disabled.

In addition Administrators can simply disable access to the Web Interface or even change the default port.

I suggest you work with who setup the phones for further support and ensure you consult the community FAQ.
