Dear experts,

We are facing an issue in conference call from Polycom phones (VVX 500 & VVX310).

following the call scenario:

A calls B, after answer, A calls C. C answered then A clicks on conference button.

conference is getting failed.

Reason: we have configured conference URI in phones like:

voIpProt.SIP.conference.address="mmtel@conf-factory.ims.mnc003.mcc602.3gppnetwork.org"

But phone is not sending the INVITE with this conference URI. Its sending only REFER message.

since conference URI related INVITE is missing so conference call is rejected from the application server (BTAS).

If we configure the conference URI like:

voIpProt.SIP.conference.address="conf@ims.mnc003.mcc602.3gppnetwork.org"

then INVITE is sent from the Phone.

So i would like to know why phone is not sending INVITE for conference URI (mmtel@conf-factory.....) ?

i have attached the wireshark traces, see the message 7513 - REFER. No INVITE coming.

Regards,

Pramod

Hello Pramod,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

It is always useful to include the currently used UC Software version as issues experienced or a question asked may already be addressed in a newer release.

This also allows yourself and others to check against current software release notes, Administrator Guides or FAQ post’s.

The above is also stated in the "Must Read First" and is the absolute minimum requirement every new post should include. .

In addition providing us with this basic information gives Polycom an idea what Software Versions are used in the field and avoids wasting time trying to troubleshoot issues which have already been addressed.

Therefore the Polycom VoIP FAQ contains this post here:

Question: How can I find out my SIP or UC Software Version of my Phone?
Resolution: Please check here

In addition you did not provide details on the utilized SIP server and the Trace was not taken on a Polycom phone end.

Our REFER method is RFC compliant and we do support partners like Broadsoft or Digium Asterisk so any change to the current design would need to be requested via a feature request.

Jan 03, 2013 Question: How can I request a change to the current Polycom SIP / UC Software?

Resolution: Please check => here <=

Thanks Steffen.

I will provide you the phone s/w details shortly.

The wireshark traces provided from S-CSCF side (E/// IMS).

My query was not related to REFER message. My query is related to why UE is not sending SIP INVITE before REFER with conference URI in Request URI. Is there some limitations in conference URI configuration in Polycom phone?

I will also capture the UE side traces and will attach shortly.

Pramod

Hello Pramod,

As this is an interoperability issue the Community is not the correct place for this. Please open a Support Ticket.

In order to raise a support ticket you need to work with your Polycom reseller as they need to do this for you. End Customers are usually unable to open a ticket directly with Polycom support.

If this is some sort of an Internet discounter please post either your phone's MAC address or your Polycom devices serial so I can look up who would be able to support you. This may not be who you purchased the Polycom device from.

I may need to refer you to a Polycom SE pending what region this is being utilized to work this.

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.

Hi Steffen,

Please find the attached traces from UE side who is conference initiator.

Phone IP address is : 10.175.6.116

SBG IP address: 10.67.200.36

Phone model: Polycom VVX310

S/W Version:-5.5.1.15937

P/N:-3150-11530-551

Kindly check and suggest why INVITE not sent for conference URI from UE.

conference URI is configured in phone as below:

voIpProt.SIP.conference.address="mmtel@conf-factory.ims.mnc003.mcc602.3gppnetwork.org"

Pramod

Hello Pramod,

As already explained this is an interoperability issue and you need to contact your Polycom sales engineer.

As you are using a GMail account I am unable to verify who or what area you should report this too.

In addition the VVX310Skype SKU that you are using was issued by Polycom (Netherlands) BV back in 18/03/2016 so it is out of warranty. It looks like this was a Polycom internal order.
