I am new to these phones and would like to configure the Flexible Line Key.  I have read the administrators guide and see that it needs to be configured in the reg-advanced.cfg template.

what is the best way to do this so I can change just this one setting?  Can I put just the one setting in an xml file and upload it through the web configuration utility import/export configuration?

I appreciat ethe help.

Hello iccaptital,

I suggest you have another look at the Admin Guide and/or my FAQ post.

  • Unassigned is the standard setting for a key and therefore does not need to be defined

  • BLF's do not have an index

  • I assume you only have one Line on the phone (if not please change below example)
lineKey.reassignment.enabled="1"
        lineKey.1.category="Line"
        lineKey.1.index="1"
        lineKey.7.category="BLF"
        lineKey.9.category="BLF"
        lineKey.11.category="BLF"
        lineKey.13.category="BLF"
        lineKey.15.category="BLF"
        lineKey.17.category="BLF"
        lineKey.19.category="BLF"
        lineKey.21.category="BLF"
        lineKey.23.category="BLF"
        lineKey.25.category="BLF"
        lineKey.27.category="BLF"
        lineKey.29.category="BLF"
        lineKey.31.category="BLF"
        lineKey.33.category="BLF"
        lineKey.35.category="BLF"
        lineKey.37.category="BLF"

This was helpful thank you.  However, I am having an issue with the below:

I have a vvx 300 with 6 line keys and then an expansion module that we would like the blf lines to show up on, however we would like blanks to show up in between the live buttons.  My setup in the configuration file that I am importing is below.  What happens is the first line shows the correct extension, but all other line keys are blank.  Thanks for the help.

lineKey.reassignment.enabled="1"
        lineKey.1.category="Line"

Thank you that did work great.  I set it with what is at the bottom and there are now blanks like we were looking for however the order is different from what we had before the flexible setup below.  What determines the order, i.e. what blf extension is assigned to which key?

lineKey.reassignment.enabled="1"
        lineKey.1.category="Line"
        lineKey.1.index="1"
        lineKey.2.category="Line"
        lineKey.2.index="1"

Hello iccaptital,

the order / appearence of the attendant.resourceList.x.address assigns the BLF's.

Thank you I will work on that.  It isn't working yet, but I think that may have to do with Vonage BLF Beta setup.  The ability to insert blank unassigned is helpful

Hey Steffen,

Am I correct in assuming that, with a VVX 500 and a color expansion module that line keys 13-26 should be on the left side,

and 27-40 should be on the right side?

I ask because with the below layout, the VVX display is correct, but the BLFs on the expansion module go 8 down on the left, then one at the top on the right. Picture attached.

The idea here is to move some over to the right column so it looks more balanced, but it's not operating that way.

Any ideas?

Hello extremerotary,

On a VVX500 the Key's on the expansion module start at 13 and on a VVX600 at 17 as described in this VoIP FAQ post here:

Jan 12, 2012 Question: Can I change / re-assign the appearance of  Line, BLF, Speed Dial and Presence Keys?

Resolution: Please check => here <=

Most likely you already comfigured some keys and have now forgotten to re-assign them using lineKey.x.category="Unassigned"

Simply export your configuration and double check.

Steffen,

Right on the money. I didn't have anything else assigned to those keys, but it looks like I needed to clear them and then redefine their position. Worked like a charm. Maybe put that little tid-bit in your FAQ article. Thanks!
