I've tried the following and not able to figure out where i might be doing a mistake, anyone in the community has tried this ?

Steps:
- Configure the router(VVX is directly connected to this) to send RA.
- Configure VVX500 to try obtain Stateless configuration.
- Reboot the terminal(VVX500)

Observations 1 [Issue Description]
VVX500 does send a router solicitation packet and in response a multicast RA packet is sent by the switch. I believe that is all that should be required by the terminal to get an IPv6 address, but on verifyiing the status, there is no IPv6 address.
Note: I am able to get a SLAAC address on my laptop in the same network.

Observations 2 (With a DHCPv6 server availiable)
When DHCPv6 is enabled and VVX is configured to get Stateless address(Not DHCP), again a router solicit message is sent and response received, but the terminal fetches a DHCPv6 address instead as if VVX was configured to get DHCPv6 address and not Slateless address. Also from switch i had set M-bit to 0 to ensure VVX terminal does not get DHCP address, still the terminal got DHCP address and no SLAAC address.

Hello swarnpalsingh89,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

It is always useful to include the currently used UC Software version as issues experienced or a question asked may already be addressed in a newer release.

This also allows yourself and others to check against current software release notes, Administrator Guides or FAQ post’s.

The above is also stated in the "Must Read First" and is the absolute minimum requirement every new post should include. .

In addition providing us with this basic information gives Polycom an idea what Software Versions are used in the field and avoids wasting time trying to troubleshoot issues which have already been addressed.

Therefore the Polycom VoIP FAQ contains this post here:

Question: How can I find out my SIP or UC Software Version of my Phone?
Resolution: Please check here

As IPv6 support was only added in 5.5.0 we do not yet have many customers using this feature.

The issue is with the IPv6 address discovery configuration in our Phone. You need to set the IPv6 address discovery to SLAAC instead of dhcpv6 ( Settings -> Advanced->Network configuration -> Ethernet Menu - > IPv6 configuration -> IPv6 address discovery ).

Jul 06, 2016 Question:Do Polycom IP Phones support IPv6?

Resolution: Please check => here <= for more details

If you still believe you have found a bug or we are violating any RFC's I suggest you open a ticket.

Please ensure you always check the community FAQ and/or utilize the community search before posting any new topics or follow up post’s.

In order to raise a support ticket you need to work with your Polycom reseller as they need to do this for you. End Customers are usually unable to open a ticket directly with Polycom support.

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.

Best Regards

Hi Steffen,

Thanks for the reply, the UC software version on the phone is updated to latest '5.6.0' . Also in step '- Configure VVX500 to try obtain Stateless configuration.' i had only changed the IPv6 Address discovery method from the Front panel settings.

I have gone through the US Software Admin guide v5.5.0 and thanks for the FAQ link, it helped me with some other queries but not the SLAAC issue.

Could you suggest some thing i could try.

(I am currently trying modifying the device.cfg file directly and see if it works.)
