the UCS 4.0.0 major release has been uploaded to the Polycom Partner Resource Center Portal => here <=. 

 

Please be aware that End Users are unable to download from above location and need to contact their Polycom Reseller in order to receive the UCS 4.0.0 Release.

Our UC Software is the telecommunications industry’s broadest and deepest SIP software for IP enabled devices that has been used across a broad spectrum of Voice products and we have the Broadest range of supported call control platforms, Broadest SIP feature set and robust provisioning coming with high quality, reliable, award winning design of products all running the UC 4.0 software.

 

Polycom UC Software 4.0.0 does not include support for the SoundPoint IP 300, 301, 320, 330, 430, 500, 501, 600, 601, and SoundStation IP 4000 phones.

 

These phones are termed legacy products and will be supported for critical issue fixes in SIP 2.1.x (IP 300, 500), SIP 3.2.x (IP 430), and SIP 3.1.x (for the other legacy products).

 

The above Software Release currently supports SoundStation IP 321, 331, 335, 450, 550, 560, 650, 670 and the Spectralink 8400 range.

 

Support for the VVX1500 and the SoundStation IP 5000, 6000 and 7000 will be added in the next upcoming Release.

 

 

Upgrading to and/or Downgrading from UC Software 4.0.0

 

For UC Software 4.0.0, Polycom has changed the process of upgrading and downgrading software on the phones.

 

To upgrade to UC Software 4.0.0, you will first need to install the new Upgrader application. 

 

Once you have installed the Upgrader, you can install UC Software 4.0.0.

 

To downgrade from UC Software 4.0.0, you will need first to install a new application called the Downgrader.

 

Once you have installed the Downgrader, you can install an earlier UC Software version.

  • New Features-

·         Simplified Provisioning:

o     Improvements to the Web Configuration Utility user interface design and menu structure

o     A Simple Setup tab with the key configuration parameters required for provisioning

o     The capability to upgrade firmware from a Polycom provisioning server

o     The facilities to back up and restore configuration files

o     Support for exporting diagnostics files from device to computer

·         Push-to-Talk and Group Paging

o    Support for Push-to-Talk (PTT) and group paging. PTT can be set to be compatibility with the older SpectraLink 8020/8030 handsets.

·         Support for 802.1X Authentication

o    Authentication—Support for 802.1X authentication for port-based Network Access Control (PNAC). It provides an authentication mechanism to devices wishing to attach to a local area network (LAN) or wireless LAN (WLAN).

·         User Profiles

o    Enables you to access and view your personal phone profile from any phone in your organization.

·         Microsoft Exchange Calendar Integration

o    Enables users to manage meetings and reminders through their phone. This feature is only supported for SpectraLink handsets. This feature requires Microsoft Exchange Calendar Integration

·         Resetting to Factory Defaults

o    Enables users to reset the phone to the factory defaults using a simple command.

·         Faster Boot Time

o    The time between phone reboot and obtaining a dial tone has been noticeably reduced.

·         TLS Profiles

o    Provides better Certificate Authority (CA) Pool Management.

·         Notification of Errors to Users

o    Provide improved management of error and warning notifications.

·         Distributed Polling of Polycom Phones

o    Phones can be set to automatically check for software downloads using a random schedule or through a predefined schedule.

·         World wide support for the SpectraLink 8400 series handset Support for Europe, New Zealand, and Australia added.
