Trio 8800 USB Reverts to Windows after reboot.

[ Edited ]

We use the T8800 for Zoome Rooms, connecting it to a USB interface on Mac Mini's. The Mac mini 'sees' the T8800 as an audio interface, which is selected when a Zoom Room Conference starts. To set volume from the T8800, the USB interfce needs to be manually set to Mac vs. Windows. Unfortunately, after any reboot of the device, the setting reverts to Windows. This causes issues where the +/- volume buttons on the phone will either only mute or max out the volume of the Mac because of the USB setting.

Question 1: Is there a way to statically set this so that the config downloaded from the phone server can't overwrite this?

Question 2: Is there a downloadable config (.cfg XML) file that has this embedded where we can provision that setting from the phone server?

Re: Trio 8800 USB Reverts to Windows after reboot.

Hello Emma_Fy,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

It is always useful to include the currently used UC Software version as issues experienced or a question asked may already be addressed in a newer release.

This also allows yourself and others to check against current software release notes, Administrator Guides or FAQ post’s.

The above is also stated in the "Read First"

Therefore the Polycom VoIP FAQ contains this post here:

Question: How can I find out my SIP or UC Software Version of my Phone?
Resolution: Please check here

I suggest you ensure the Trio is running UC SOftware 5.4.5.9111

Re: Trio 8800 USB Reverts to Windows after reboot.

As Steffen stated this is dependant on your firmware version. I believe this is a more recent addition.

The configuration item below should be what you are looking for. Include it in your master/shared cfg file.  Attached is what the xml would look like but again this should be included in your master/shared cfg file not alone.

feature.usb.device.hostOs

Specify the operating system of the computer you are connecting by USB when using RealPresence Trio as an audio output device.

Windows (default) - The computer connected by USB to the RealPresence Trio uses a Windows operating system.

Other - The operating system of the computer connected via USB to the RealPresence Trio system is other than Windows or Mac.

Mac - The computer connected by USB to the RealPresence Trio uses a Mac operating system.

Confirm - The user is prompted the computer's operating system each time a USB cable is used to connect the RealPresence Trio 8800 system.

Good luck!

Re: Trio 8800 USB Reverts to Windows after reboot.

Hey Guys - thanks for the replies.

The phones are all running the latest 5.4.5.9111. I saw that key pair for the Mac OS setting, but I'm having trouble editing the right file so it pulls the setting.

We're using FreePBX - I modified the overrides/$mac-phone.cfg file to be the following - but no dice. Am I even modifying the right file?

Thanks

Re: Trio 8800 USB Reverts to Windows after reboot.

Hello Emma_Fy,

I suggest you look at:

Mar 08, 2013 QuestionWhat files does my phone download or upload and why?

Resolution: Please check => here <=

Files are only loaded via either the 000000000000.cfg or the <mac>.cfg

In addition please never use <mac>-phone.cfg or <mac>-web.cfg files to load configuration.

These files are uploaded by the phones to represent a current backup of their configuration based on the source of changes made either via the GUI or the Web Interface.

The previous poster provided a configuration which you can simply import via the web interface:

Utilities > Import & Export Configuration > Choose File > Import
