Hi,

We have a voip solution with Polycomm VVX 300 phones.

The phone directory infromation is being pushed to all the phones via XML on boot up.

The problem we are facing is that all the users locally configured speedials are being wiped out whenever we push an updated XML file to the phones.

Is there a way to push a global phone directory to the phones without affecting local speedials / favourites?

Thanks

Hello Pommie,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

The community's VoIP FAQ contains this post here:

Jan 6, 2012 Question: How can I create a local directory or what is the 000000000000-directory.xml used for?

Resolution: Please check => here <=

The above article explains:

"If an end user makes any changes to their local contact directory entries the phone will attempt and store a <mac>-directory.xml on the Provisioning Server."

In your case most likely you are provisioning a <mac>-directory.xml instead and do not allow the user to write their local changes back to this file or overwrite the changed the user made.

You would need "read" the local file first and then create a new file keeping the changes intact.

Or you could simply use LDAP or similar as explained here:

Jan 30, 2012 Question: Can I use a central Phone book or is LDAP / Corporate Directory supported?

Resolution: Please check => here <=
