Hello... we have Polycom VVX300/310's deployed to our users. They're connected to Cisco 2960X switches supplying them with PoE.

Some users can't tell the difference between the AUX port and the headset port, so they often plug in the headset to the AUX port. This causes a short or over-current situation and the phone reboots constantly, every few minutes. I see errors in the switch log about the problem as well. So, it's important to fix this is if possible, since we have a lot of users and this is often missed in training, even if they are told they will forget a few weeks later.

Is there a way to disable the AUX port completely, or configure it in some way to prevent this? I've looked through the settings on the phone's web interface and I don't see anything there.

Thank you.

Hello mykl_74,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

In my nearly 9 years with Polycom this is the first time someone asked this.

The Headset port is clearly marked with an Icon and to my knowledge you cannot disable this.

If your users are unable to understand this maybe something simple like insulation tape over the AUX port will prevent them from trying to plug something into this?

Actually there is:

device.set="1"
device.auxPort.enable.set="1"
device.auxPort.enable="0"
