Up until now, we've been using the BLF feature with our customers' Soundpoint phones.  We've recently had issues with BLF where VVX phones don't ring audibly, so Polycom support has recommended we switch to Buddy Lists instead.

Can anyone tell me the difference between Buddy Lists and BLF?  I've read some docs and they seem very similar.

Hello Henry,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

Buddy watch to BLF is very different in the method they use and the detail or feature they provide.

The community's VoIP FAQ therefore contains this post here:

Nov 4, 2011 Question: How can I setup a Busy Lamp Field / BLF with an Digium Asterisk SIP Server?

Resolution: Please check => here <=

and

Aug 06, 2013 Question: How can I use the Buddy Watch feature?

Resolution: Please check => here <=

Contain details on both.

In addition it is always useful to include the currently used software version as issues experienced may already be addressed in a newer release.

This also allows yourself and others to check against current software release notes.

I would also kindly ask you to provide me with the Polycom Service Ticket details so I can follow this up internally.

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.

Best Regards
