Re: sip register issue

Hello mukeshkumar,

welcome back to the Polycom Community.

Please be aware that this is not a tested or verified solution.

In order to actually answer your question as you have not yet connected / setup the Asterisk SIP Server please proceed as follows:

On the RMX IP Network Service Properties select the SIP Server section:

Asterisk_RMX_01.PNG

  • IP network type can be SIP or H.323 & SIP

  • SIP Server set to specify

  • SIP Server Type set to generic

  • Transport type set to UDP or TCP

You then simply specify the Server IP's as shown in the above picture.

On the Asterisk End you would simply define a Trunk in your sip.conf and then add a dial pattern in your extensions.conf

sip.conf example:

[RMX_10.252.120.33]
type=peer
port=5060
host=10.252.120.33
dtmfmode=rfc2833
context=from-rmx
qualify=yes
canreinvite=yes

 The Name in [ ] is based on the RMX in question and will differ on your end.

extensions.conf

;RMX Trunkfour digits for RMX
exten=>_141XXXX,1,Dial(SIP/10.252.120.33/${EXTEN:3},55)
exten=>_141XXXX,n,hangup()

 The above snippet uses 141 to access the RMX and then leaves a 4 digit number for the meeting rooms.

You could dial 1411001 and get into the default maple meeting room.

  • The EXTEN:3 part strips the 3 digits before sending the call to the RMX.

  • The 10.252.120.33 is the RMX signaling address.

Please be aware that above is only an example and no support is provided for any follow up questions.

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.

Re: sip register issue

Hello mukeshkumar,

as I have written in my original reply this is not an officially supported setup.

I used a domain name as it is really no big issue to setup a DNS record. If that is not possible for you customer simply use a IP address.

I am not sure about your follow up question in regards of security.

I tested this with a very simple setup and all necessary changes are shown in my post.

Best Regards

Re: sip register issue

I am trying to integrate our RMX 1500 with our asterisk PBX so that extensions can log in to existing RMX conference rooms. I also need RMX to be able to use asterisk to dial out to the PSTN. I am tring to follow this suggestion but the problem that arises is that we already have a CISCO Video Communication Server configured as a SIP SERVER and I cannot find a way to be able to configure a new SIP server. We only have LAN PORT 2 connected in the RMX, I don't know if patching LAN PORT 1 to the switch will help configure a new SIP server. Your recommendations are pretty clear and straight forward. Thank you in advance for any suggestion.
