Multiple devices behind firewall with one public IPv4

Except for having been setting up a single Polycom system behind a firewall, I have never tried setting up multiple devices behind a single, shared, public IP. What is the correct approach? Any howtos on the net?

Regards, Lars.

Re: Multiple devices behind firewall with one public IPv4

Hi bonne,

therefore you´ll need a gatekeeper the endpoint registers to. The gatekeeper places an entry into a look-up table that maps the H.323 User Number (E.164 number) to the current IP address of the corresponding Endpoint.

Your first endpoint has E.164 number 1111 for example and your second 2222. Now your endpoints are reachable via public IP and ##E.164. For example. 10.11.12.13##1111 or 10.11.12.13##2222.

It´s recommedend to use Polycom VideoBorderProxy like VBP7301.

Thanks. Will any gatekeeper do? How about this:

og could you recommend one over another?

I hope so. I only know the Polycom VBP and that´s my preferred gatekeeper. But GNUGK should work, too. Just try, it´s for free! ;-)
