We have just installed zero clients and set up VDI in our classroom. We installed the CMA-D client, web camera, etc. on the main image. We tested the camera with the Logitech software and it works just fine. In the preferences CMA-D sees the web cam attached to the system. When we try to use the web cam in the CMA-D client, the light comes on indicating CMA-D is using the camera but we get no local video dispaly. We can conduct a video call but neither party sees any video. Does anyone know of any solution to get this workig? We are using Logitech Webcam Pro 9000 for business on Windows 7 Enterprise 64-Bit.

Thanks.

Hello Tom,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

The Hardware and Software requirements for CMAD are listed in the Release notes which can be found => here <= and I do not believe a virtual machine is supported.

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.

Thanks for the info. I read through the release notes prior to installation. It does not say it supports virtual machines nor does it say it does not. I guess since virtual versions of the O/S's are not listed in the release notes, one would assume that virtual machines are not supported.

Do you think Polycom will ever get CMA-D to work in the virtual desktop world? More and more organization are using zero clients and thin clients these days to help cut hardware costs, and we are one of those organizations.

Thanks again for the information.

In order for the CMAD client to work in a VDI envirnoment, there would be the need of a plugin as you have found out.

Microsoft has developed one for their envirnoment which works for VDI clients.

I have not heard of any talk about this becoming a supported platform in the future.
