Hello,

I have a problem occuring between registered and unregistered endpoints.

Basically, when an unregistered endpoint calls a registered one, it connects fine and RTP is sent as per usual routing.

However, when a registered unit calls an unregistered endpoint, it sends it through the VBP - even though its a private address!

What happens is that RTP traverses from the registered unit, through the VBP, and then to the unregistered unit. Obviously not ideal, but atleast the data gets there.

This is where it gets strange. RTP from the UNregistered endpoint goes through the VBP also, but this time gets turned around and sent straight back to the source??

Something weird is happening there, but what I would like to happen is the CMA recognise that its a private address, and not send it to the VBP in the first place. Any ideas?

Just for context, some may be asking why are there unregistered units? This is just because our company is so big and people buy VC units and dont tell anyone. This makes it hard to track the IP addresses down and just enter them into a "dummy site".

Also, some use CMA desktop which just gets a data IP address, and its far too impracticle to find every data subnet we have globally and then enter it into the dummy site again.

I've tried researching into the dial rules to see if that could help, but can't find too much info on what the route actions do and if they will help.

Cheers

Hello

You have to add your network subnets to the CMA's Sites.

please, take a look to this post

Thanks for the reply.

We have tried looking into this. However this would take a very very long time as CMA doesn't allow you to put a 10.0.0.0/8 address in on a dummy site as it overlaps - would have thought CMA would just find the most exact route like routing tables but guess not.

Is there no way to work around this?

Chances a 10.0.0.0/8 address is internet is very slim so wondering why it would push private addresses to the VBP in the first place?

If the destination IP doesn't belong to Site subnets, the CMA will push call to the VBP.
It's very simple logic.

If any Site contains subnets from 10.0.0.0/8, the CMA doesn't allow you add 10.0.0.0/8 subnet to new Site.
You can:
1) if you wouldn't like use the CMA's topology, you should create one Site with 10.0.0.0/8 subnet.
2) if you would like use the CMA's topology, you have to carefully add all your subnets to sites according your network topology.
