Hello,

Our CEO would like to perform a live webcast to our whole comapny (45,000+ employees worldwide).

I would like to ask some help in creating an (estimated) list of equipment and licensing required to pull off such an event using Polycom products.

  1. Number of sites (Locations): 200
  2. Employee amount: 45,000+
  3. Concurrent viewing: At least 30,000, with the rest being VOD (Video on Demand)

Video quality requested is 720p, however given the network restrictions, SD definition is also accepted.

I understand that the RSS 4000 with proper licensing can provide 720p streaming for up to 200 users (please correct me if I am wrong), but I am sure that many more additional hardware and licensing is requiered for this task.

Any response will be most appreciated

I'm sure you've moved on, but FWIW, we connect our bridge to BT (British Telecom) via ISDN. They provide the stream hosting as well as on demand for a period of time afterwards. It's pretty easy for us and off loads the bandwidth. It isn't cheap, but again, it doesn't saturate out connection.
