Hi All,

Looking at the installation for this device, I am to connect at least 3 cables:

Media (Lan2) - static address added during fast configuration wizard

MNG (Signalling) - static address added during fast configuration wizard

MNG B (Management Network) - where in the configuration is this entered ?

Shelf Management (optional) - whats the purpose of this ?

Which one of these ports am i accessing when entering the control unit ip in the web browser ?

The quick reference guide is a bit of help but here goes...

MNG B is where you point to control the bridge (point the IE browser there)..   This is setup with the setup utility that is on the USB stick and it is written to a file called "lan.cfg" in the root of that USB stick.   Then you insert the USB stick into the RMX and boot it to take the address.

Shelf mgr is a Hardware management address.   It gives you the ability to look/troubleshoot the hardware.  It does not give you access to conferences.    Also, curiously, only on the 1500, it is the port that is used for NTP access (to get to a standard clock)..

Good luck,

Hi Gary,

Its a bit of a read and i have started it. Thanks

A little clarification on a few things

- i am reading where the Control Unit Ip is what is used to to control the bridge/admin interface, after applying the setup utility on the usb stick and not the MNG B or have i misinterpreted you.

- the signalling host ip is added during the configuration (this IP is for the MNG Port ?)

Seems like a pretty simple setup but i'll take all the good luck anyone has to offer 🙂

P.S. Im guessing its the LAN2 and the MNG Port are the ones which need to be allowed to punch through a firewall for outside bridging or should allowances be made for all connections to the rear panel.

Anything else i need to be aware of in that regard ? Found the RMX Port Usage in the admin guide. I will forward this to the IT guys

Please be awared that open Conferencing Service ports is not the best way to use RMX with both private and public networks. There is a special feature named 'Network Separation' for this purpose. Please also note that in this case LAN ports are distributed in another way. Take a look into RMX Admin's Guide -> Multiple Network Services for more details.
