Hi,

A few things,

- Is it safe to use the power button on the front panel to shutdown while the RSS 4000 is running idle without doing this from the web interface ?

- How do i perform a factory restore if i do not know the ip address ? During initial login, i changed the IP setting to DHCP. The system restarted and i do not know what the new ip is. The network administrator was supplied with the MAC but is unable to see the device on the network.

- Any tips to performing a successful DHCP configuration please?

Much appreciated !

Hello

You can change the IP address via Console connection:

1) Connect your computer to the RS-232 port of the Polycom RSS 4000
system (115200, 8 bits).

default password POLYCOM

2) Change the IP address using the command:
set lan1 ip {dhcp | static <ip > netmask <mask > gw <gateway > }

I think, use the power button to shut down it's not safe, because you may have problem with RAID controller after that.

Regards

I connected a personal router to it and discovered it still has the default IP address. After a few tries, i was able to get into the ip settings.

System was activated with keycode and restarted. I discovered it picked up a new ip from the router. Now that ive confirmed the dhcp is active.... i will shutdown and plug it on to the office network and power on. Since there is no visual interface, how will i know what the ip is on the office network ? Will have to check the network administrator i suppose...

Its up and running now. Went the static ip route. Recording etc works fine.
