Hello,

I cannot find the proper instructions to perform and upgrade from 10.2 to 10.3 redundant configuration (VE - virtual edition).

The last mentions on upgrading redudant systems are:

- v8 has steps for physical environments and mentions that VE doesn't support redundant configurations

- v9 mentions that there are significant improvements on redudant configuration upgrade process

but basically nothing more.

So far I got this from support:

Previously, upgrading via the VIP upgraded both servers, but with 10.3, you have to:

  • break the redundancy
  • power down the secondary
  • upgrade the primary, and the primary will reboot
  • WHEN IT HAS FINISHED, power down the primary, and power up the secondary.
  • Upgrade the secondary, then when it reboots
  • power up the primary and recreate the redundancy from the primary server.

I'm just not aware of any special precautions and risks. Just that this is a sensitive deployment with AD integration, 400 polycom phones, mixture of Phone profiles and settings for both Skype for Business and Cisco.
