Upgrade RPD to 3.5

Hi, 

In our company, with a complete Polycom infrastructure (RMX 1500, and virtual editions of Resource Manger, DMA, Websuite, etc.) we had installed different versions of Real Presence Desktop, from 3.3 to 3.5.

Is any chance to have a centralized solution to update all RPD to 3.5, instead of taking one by one?

One more thing related to the question:

On the RPD users PCs they don't have admin privilegies.

For testing, it will be nice if is possible to send the newer version only to few users, to see how is working.

Hello ibucur,

welcome back to the Polycom Community.

The RPRM Polycom RealPresence Resource Manager System Operations Guide discusses for example on Page 32 how to add a DNS service record (SRV record) for the RealPresence Resource Manager system.

 

This usually allows the RPM or RPD to lookup the server.

 

From ENDPOINT => Dynamic Management or Scheduled Management you would distribute the relevant software.

 

This is all a bit complex to discuss via the community but guides should be available via the support page or your Polycom reseller can be consulted. In addition Polycom does offer professional services that you can purchase.

Hi, 

Thank you for your response.

 

Without touching DNS settings, I was able to work with a trial group. The RPD version from this trial group can see that a newer version of RPD is available, is asking the permission to update the software but the update fails.

 

After that, looking to your solution, I can see that Enterprise Directory is disabled.

I will work on that.
