WebSuite Certificates Doubt

Hi All,

We are working on a WebSuite implementantion and we have some doubts regarding the certificates needed and their types.

Please find below our doubts:

01 - Does the RPAD need a valid certifificate? If so, which type should be this certificate (SSL, MultiDomain, WildCard)?

02 - Does the WSP need a valid certifificate? If so, which type should be this certificate (SSL, MultiDomain, WildCard)?

03 - Does the MEA need a valid certifificate? If so, which type should be this certificate (SSL, MultiDomain, WildCard)?

Is there any other certificate needed?

Regards,

Fabio

Re: WebSuite Certificates Doubt

Just to add more another question

04 - Does any certificate need to be issued with SAN? If so, which domains should be included on it?

Thanks,

Fabio

Re: WebSuite Certificates Doubt

Hi Fa, Fabio.

I am not a "specialist" in certicates, but let me try to answer your questions. :)

First of all, what do you mean with "valid certificate"? I will assume you mean a "public valid cert", right?

that said:

1 - Yes, for external access, you should have a public valid certificate.

2 and 3 - if you dont configure a certificate it will not work properly.

For both servers you should generate a CSR and use it to get the right SSL certificate in your certificate authority (most of cases your MS AD)

But have in mind there are many ways to generate this kind of cert.

4 - SAN stands for Subject Alternative Names it means that you should insert all FQDNs the server will respond for.

for instance, if you have a WSP (schedule.domain.com), MEA (meetnow.domain.com) and your regular service (video.domain.com), your SANs would be schedule.domain.com and meetnow.domain.com (if video.domain.com is your server name, it does not need to be a SAN).
