Hi Community,

my question ist: Are Trio 8500/8800 meanwhile all Microsoft Teams compatible, when Lync/Skype for Business were new there were different versions of Trio devices (with or without Lync/Skype), is this still important or are all newer Trio Firmwares of 8500/8800 able to use Team profile ?

Thank you for answer

Hello @3ccd ,

Welcome to the Poly Community.

From our Skype for Business FAQ:

April 16. 2019 Question: What Poly Phones support Microsoft Teams?

Resolution: Please check => here <=

From UC Software 5.9.0 you can select Teams to run on the Poly Trio.

It will be an audio device only and you are no longer able to pair with a Visual+/VisualPro

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.

Yes, current firmware versions for Trio 8500/8800 include a base profile called 'Microsoft Teams' which will run the native Android-based Teams IP Phone application.  Keep in mind this client only support audio with the Trio, so if you have Visual+ or Visual Pro video-enabled Trio configurations then the Teams profile will not be applicable.

In case of video-enabled Trios you'll need to leverage an interop solution like RealConnect.

This article covers in detail how to use a Trio with Microsoft Teams in various ways:

The way I read the question, they were asking whether you need the -019 SKU (or the license add-on) when using the Teams firmware to be in compliance. The FAQ says you need it for a "Lync / Skype for Business" environment but doesn't say anything about Teams.

Good observation; in that case:

The different SKUs are identical phones but with a different base profile set at the factory.  So if you have -019 SKU 'Skype' phone you could simply change the base profile to Generic and it'll operate identical to the standard SKU phone, and vice versa.  The only difference is which base profile is selected by default after a factory reset is performed.

I'm not aware if a new sales SKU will be added where a Trio would come factory-set to the Teams base profile.  So technically it does not matter which SKU is or has been purchased as any can be put into the Teams base profile.
