Hello,

We just purchased a new CX5500. When it is connected to a PC/laptop it is recorgnised by the SfB client and everything works fine. However tried to connect to it, with a SfB user account after I disconnected it from the PC, in order to use it as standalone conference phone. The problem is nowhere I can connect with the SFB account.

I changed the mode from General to Skype, somewhere in the settings I entered the domain, user and password. Also entered the SIP registration server FQDN, but nothing works. Actually from settings I miss this: "Settings > Features > Microsoft Skype for Business > Sign In "  - this I found as being available for VVX phones.

Can you tell me please if CX5500 has UC software available for Skype for Business onprem server?

Can you help me woth some guideliness how to configure it in order to be able to login with a SfB account from an onprem environment?

Thaks in advance!

Hello @VLC19,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

It is always useful to include the currently used UC Software version as issues experienced or a question asked may already be addressed in a newer release.

This also allows yourself and others to check against current software release notes, Administrator Guides or FAQ post’s.

The above is also stated in the "Must Read First" and is the absolute minimum requirement every new post should include. .

In addition providing us with this basic information gives Polycom an idea what Software Versions are used in the field and avoids wasting time trying to troubleshoot issues which have already been addressed.

Therefore the Polycom VoIP FAQ contains this post here:

Question: How can I find out my SIP or UC Software Version of my Phone?
Resolution: Please check here

The Skype for Business FAQ contains:

Sep 30 2014 Question:Can I sign into LYNC using the Web Interface?

Resolution: Please check => here <=

Hello Steffen,

First, thank you very much for replying to me.

I checked carrefully what you sent me, however the Lync sign-in option is not present on my device.

Please find attached the info from Home tab with the UC version. I mention that I have upgraded the firmware version, so the system has the latest firware version installed.

Regarding the Lync sign-in (https://community.polycom.com/t5/VoIP-SIP-Phones/FAQ-Can-I-sign-into-LYNC-using-the-Web-Interface/td...) that option I do not have it valid. Is it grayed out (Attachement 2). In my case is Skype for Business sign-in, but regardless of it, can you help me what I can do to be able to use the device as standalone conf phone?

Let me what info should I provide you more in order to help me in this case!

Thank you!

Hello Steffen,

I changed the profile to Skype For Business. However the sign-in failed - see attachement3.

I attached the log file generated by the phone. I see there are event info about missing certificate: "

Details:

Might be the reason  the signin failling to be due to the missing certificate?

Thanks!

Hello @VLC19,

The community's Skype for Business FAQ contains this post here:

Jan 17, 2017 Question:How can I troubleshoot simple Skype for Business, LYNC or Office365 issues?

Resolution: Have a look => here <=

The above can be utilized to try and troubleshoot issues yourself.

In a working Skype for Business environment the Skype Setup would send the certificate to the CX5500 via the AD.

You can ask the community members for more help but if you require support please work with ScanSource Video Communications Sarl which sold this CX back in 18/12/2017.

They are your Tier 1 support and can open a Ticket with Polycom support for you.

Hello Steffan,

What DHCP and DNS settings are needed?

The DHCP options related to SfB cannot be configured becasue the system does not allow me to enter those values.

Can you send me a guide related?

Thanks,
