We're using Polycom VVX 601 with Skype for Business Online (Office 365).

We have the policy set to use updates from Skype for Business Online device update server, because having the officially approved and supported firmware automatically deployed to our VVX phones is great.

But I have noticed that the Microsoft approved relase is now quite a few versions behind (5.6.0.17325).

Whilst I don't want to be on the bleeding edge, and very much like the idea of being on the tested and reliable version, I was wondering if we should consider upgrading the firmware manually ourselves.

Or do people recomend staying with the version Microsoft have currently certified for use with Skype for Business Online?

Currently on 5.6.0.17325

I would think the only reason to perform an upgrade is if there are performance issues or major security concerns. Are these something you're experiencing? If not, it's possible if you start steering towards the later unsupported firmware that you'll be introducing some of the previous mentioned issues.

Check this out. This is some related information regarding firmware updates that you may want to look at it in case you're not aware.

Thanks @jbanh88, I wasn't aware so have now just done it. "Polycom RealConnect for Microsoft Teams has been successfully consented." I guess it's safe to assume that Microsoft will push the update out before deadline?

Also check this out. Here's the official VoIP firmware compatibility list released by Microsoft and seems to be updated. Looks like 5.9.0.9373 is the latest approved firmware from Polycom.
