Hello GMCR,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

It is always useful to include the currently used UC Software version as issues experienced or a question asked may already be addressed in a newer release.

Please also include if you are using a SIP server or a LYNC / Skype for Business server.

This also allows yourself and others to check against current software release notes, Administrator Guides or FAQ post’s.

The above is also stated in the "Read First"

Therefore the Polycom VoIP FAQ contains this post here:

Question: How can I find out my SIP or UC Software Version of my Phone?
Resolution: Please check here

The sentence you mention that the phone pops up a message about a software update let's me assume that you are using LYNC or Skype for Business but I rather wait for more details before I guess that.

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.

Best Regards

I have an FTP server that provides some custom settings to the phones on bootup.  I can get the phones to set their Software Upgrade server type from Polycom provided to Custom and set the IP address/host name of the local server, but unless I click the 'Clear Upgrade Server' button on the Utilities>Software Upgrade page they always look to the Polycom hosted server.  See attached pic

I have looked through the config files but I cannot find the parameter that controls this setting.

What I am ultimately trying to accomplish is having the phones exclusively use the local FTP server for provisioning such that when Polycom releases new firmware, the phones do not flash a notice on the screens becuase they never see the Polycom servers.  I want the phone notifications to only flash when I change the version offered by the local FTP server.

Thanks for your thoughts.

P.S These are VVX 400 phones.

Thanks for following up Steffen.  I am running 5.4.4.4281 on the FTP server and the current version they are getting downgraded to by the hosted Polycom/Skype service is 5.4.1.17653.
