After we registered our PR Trio 8800 on our SIP server and were able to make calls like a normal phone, we lost the ability to be signed into our Skype for Business account, and we can no longer use the Visual+ accessory because of this.
How do we keep the phone signed into our SIP system, and also use the 8800 with our Skype for Business system?

Just to clarify, here's what the Lync (Skype for Business) login page looks like. No "Sign In" Button.

Hello ENoor,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

The community's Skype for Business FAQ contains this post here:

Jan 25, 2016 Question:How many Lines can I register using Polycom phones with Lync Server / Skype for Business server ?

Resolution: You can register only one line when Lync is set as the base profile on the phone.

You can either run the Trio in SIP mode or LYNC mode but not both.

My question is how do you use a conference phone in SIP & have the feature of using Lync (Skype)? Can you not configure a switch on the phone. I find this a waste of money if thats not the case.

Hello brownie6653,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

In its present form the RealPresence Trio does either SIP or LYNC / Skype for Business but not both at the same time.

We do not advertise the phone in such manner either and the fact is documented in the release notes.

This is how the phone currently works and all we can discuss within the community without a NDA in place.

If you are interested in more details please provide me with your complete details and what organisation you work for or at and I can get a Polycom Sales Engineer to contact you.

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.

Steffen,

I was under the same impression as the OP.  This inpression wasn't just an educated guess on my part, I was led to belive that this would work by Polycom and their vendor.  Our techs have been working on a demo unit for over a week (the vendors just send documents and do not reply well to email or calls) and not until this post have I confirmed that these two VERY IMPORTANT features have to on two seperate profiles and will not work simultaneously.

Hello GMENTECH21,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

Again if you are "assuming" this I am unable to help you as I can only state what is currently possible and advertised as such.

In its present form the RealPresence Trio does either SIP or LYNC / Skype for Business but not both at the same time.

We do neither advertise the phone in such manner and the fact is documented in the release notes.

This is how the phone currently works and all we can discuss within the public community without a NDA in place.

I am unsure who within Polycom has told you otherwise but this is wrong for currently released and supported software.

If you are interested in more details please provide me with your complete details and what organisation you work for or at and I can get a Polycom Sales Engineer to contact you.

Simultaneous support of multiple registrations has been identified as a key customer ask and top priority for future consideration.

It's unfortunate that you were led to believe this was already supported.  But as Steffen pointed out the product documentation and the datasheet clearly points out that RealPresence Trio 8800 supports a single line registration only.

I am in the process of deciding to buy 10 x Trio units for our meeting rooms and i must admit that Polycom has not made it clear enough that the Trio 8800 can only be use in one mode or another and does not support multiple SIP registration under the lync Profile.

I am trying hard to sell this to the Business, which will eliminate the need for a second device on the table - but the only option i see is  buying an E5/E3 licence from microsoft  which will give me cloud PBX capabilities. not even sure how this will interface with my current cloud PSTN provider.

Hello Heartlion,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

Again I am unsure how we can make this clearer than it already is.

There is always development on this Product and if you are interested you can contact a Polycom reseller to be brought in touch with the Product Management team.

You will need to sign an NDA.
