If the Skype for Business display name of the user is too long for the phone to display, it gets truncated.  Are there any options for changing this on the Polycom side?  Displaying a number instead for example?

Hello AnthonyCaragol,

welcome back to the Polycom Community.

It is always useful to include the currently used UC Software version as issues experienced may already be addressed in a newer release.

This also allows yourself and others to check against current software release notes.

The above is also stated in the "Read First: Welcome to the Polycom VoIP Forum"

Therefore the Polycom VoIP FAQ contains this post here:

Question: How can I find out my SIP UC Software Version or the BootROM Version of my Phone?
Resolution: Please check here

Also what Phone Model are you using?

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.

Ha... Of course, I feel silly now.

We're running UCS5.4.3 on VVX 310s and seeing the issue there.

Hello AnthonyCaragol,

I believe we can only affect the label via up.cfgLabelElide but not to sure that would help you.

Intereseting to see and know, but yeah I'm still truncated.

I can't ask them to change the display name to shorten it (because it's the AD display name and shows up multiple places), but the users are up in arms when their name gets truncated.  How could I submit this as a feature request?

Probably not the fix your looking for, but we use

reg.n.useTelUriAsLineLabel="1"

on all our devices. This gives the the extention (we're Lync / SfB and use +1NPANXXxxx;ext=xxxx format for the tel uri.

No names to truncate this way. 🙂
