(The above new Phones are only supported in on premise installations and do not support O365)

New Skype for Business Features:

  • PSTN Gateway Failover

When a VVX phone becomes unregistered due to an outage and can't reach the Skype for Business server for a specified time interval, the phone fails over to an alternate PSTN gateway server.

  • Hybrid Registration

VVX phones support hybrid line registration feature that allows you to register a Skype for Business server on one line and OpenSIP server on other lines (max 3 or VVX201 2).

    more details => here <=

  • Reverse Name Look up

You can configure the phone to display incoming caller names and outgoing callee names, and the source the phone obtains names from. The Factory default uses Outlook,SIP,ABS,Local in this order. The Parameter up.rnl.priority can be used to change the order.

  • Full contact Information

Older Versions only received the Office Number and a manual change to the Relationship status of a monitored favorite was required.

  • Sign In Methods
User ID. Use this to sign in with user credentials on the Sign In screen. You cannot configure login credentials using the Polycom Web Configuration Utility.
PIN Authentication. Use this to sign in on the phone or from the Web Configuration Utility. As of UC Software 5.1.1, this sign in method is available on the SoundStructure VoIP Interface. This option is available in on-premises Skype for Business deployments when you configure DCHP Option 43, and is not available for online deployments.
Web Sign In for Skype for Business. For online deployments only, this method enables secure sign-in from a browser on your computer or mobile device. The phone generates a unique pairing code used to sign in on a secure Office 365 website. For more information about Web Sign In, refer to Web Sign In for Skype for Business Online.
Sign In with Better Together over Ethernet (BToE). If you use the BToE feature in your
deployment, you can sign in to the phone from the PC client when the phone and computer are connected through the BToE application.
Web Sign In CAP. Use this method to securely sign-in from a browser on your computer or mobile device when Common Area Phone mode feature is enabled along with Online Web Sign In and the phone is set to CAP Admin Mode. The phone generates a unique pairing code used to sign in on a secure Office 365 website.
Single Sign-On Solutions (SSO). Allows you to use the same login credentials across multiple cloud-based applications such as Microsoft Exchange and Skype for Business.

Generic Enhancements:

  • Wireless Network Connectivity

Polycom UC software supports wireless LAN connectivity by using Obihai USB Wi-Fi Dongle with all the VVX phones that support USB. Support for 2.4GHz or 5GHz

    image

    Limitations:
No other WiFi USB dongles are supported
    No Video calls or IPv6
New VVX250, VVX350 or VVX450 cannot use USB Headset concurrently at present
No WiFi and Ethernet at the same time. The phone should be powered via a Power block but can be powered via PoE instead.

  • Device Analytics via Polycom Device Management Service (PDMS)

You can configure the Device Analytics feature on your VVX phones to allow the phone to send device details to the analytics service in the cloud.

  • Representational State Transfer API

VVX business media and business IP phones support Representational State Transfer (REST) API feature that enables you to execute certain functions and retrieve information using APIs.
For more information on these APIs, see REST API Reference Manual for Polycom VVX Business Media Phones at Polycom Engineering Advisories and Technical Notifications.

  • Upload Logs to USB Storage Device

You can configure your phone to copy application and boot logs to a USB storage device connected to the phone. This will not work on a VVX1500. Details => here <=

  • CTI via uaCSTA (user agent Computer Supported Telecommunications Applications) in line with TR-087.
When Polycom phones are configured to use uaCSTA with a CSTA server, end users can remotely control the phone and access phone services using a computer
telephony integration (CTI) application on their computer. To use CSTA, the IT Manager will need to set up a CSTA account and deploy CTI applications to the end users PC.
