Hi Phone Gurus,
I would very much appreciate your help with my BtoE query. I have a feeling I may be over estimating its capabilities…
Some crucial information…
My Setup is Lync 2013\SfB Online Hybrid; all my users are still currently local.
Now these are the important parts…
I have NO PSTN connectivity using Lync.
I have a separate hosted 3rd party VoIP provider using SIP connection to each phone.
My questions are…
Can BtoE allow my users to use Lync to dial out via a desk phone SIP account?
(this would be ace but I suspect not)
Can my users still use the desk phone set to answer internet calls from Lync as well as inbound/outbound SIP calls?
(This is the basic headset functionality I was hoping for).
What I’m after is really a faux integration at the client end, using the desk phone as a SIP device but also as a USB headset. BtoE got me all excited, I’m running wild with crazy ideas such as presence changes while making a SIP calls and Lync dialing out using the SIP account on the desk phone.
Am I a dreamer or can this be done?
Many Thanks
Paul.

Hello Paul,
Apologize, I overlooked the fact you have not yet purchased this.
The VVX, in LYNC / Skype for Business base profile can only register 1 line so no SIP call is possible. You cannot register to a SIP account at the same time.
This may be possible in future software versions but we are unable to discuss this within the community due lack of NDA.
Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.

Hello Paul,
welcome to the Polycom Community.
It is always useful to include the currently used UC Software version as issues experienced or a question asked may already be addressed in a newer release.
Please also include the BToE Version.
This also allows yourself and others to check against current software release notes, Administrator Guides or FAQ post’s.
The above is also stated in the "Read First"
Therefore the Polycom VoIP FAQ contains this post here:
Question: How can I find out my SIP or UC Software Version of my Phone?
Resolution: Please check here
BToE is basically a tool that makes:
- Signing into Skype / LYNC easier
- Act as a SoundCard and use the Phone as a Sound device for the LYNC / Skype for Business Client
BToE can only be used for Microsoft Skype for Business / LYNC deployments and that is its actual functionality.
All support from Polycom is just for the advertised and tested functionality.

Hi Steffen,
Thanks for your reply,
Unfortunately, I still do not understand if can use a Polycom desk phone for my situation. I cannot include the versions of anything other than Lync 2013 Client 15.0.4893.1000. The question is mostly hypothetical so nothing is actually in use.
You mention that it can…
“Act as a SoundCard and use the Phone as a Sound device for the LYNC / Skype for Business Client”
Can the phone continue to use a SIP account at the same time as using this functionality?
If so, this may be a workable solution for me. I do not really mind not being able to dial out from Lync (although click to dial would be nice).
The main reason for the question is to establish if I can use a SIP account configured on the phone for external calls, but still use the desk phone for internal Lync calls as well.
Thanks
Paul.
