Hello,

We recently purchased a few VVX 311 (2200-48350-025) phones from Amazon to use with our existing Skype for Business service at our Office.

As soon as I tried to set it up for a user, I noticed it didn't have Skype for Business on the menu available, so I went ahead and updated the firmware from the existing version that came with the phone 5.5.2.9374 to version 5.7.0.14430, which per Polycom's website, it's a version for Skype for Business deployments

The firmware update completed successfully, but I still can't see Skype for Business on the phone's menu. As a matter of fact, it's still grayed out on the Web Utility menu for the device.

After doing some research, I found out that the VVX 311 phones that come with Skype for Business are the ones with serial number 2200-48350-019.

Question, is it possible to make the 2200-48350-025 model work with Skype for Business, or are we going to have to exchange the phones for 2200-48350-019?

As I mentioned before, I already updated the firmware to a version that supposedly enables Skype for Business on the device, but it's not working. I read some documentation that mentions something about an honor-based license from Polycom to make Skype for Business work; I wonder if this is why our firmware upgrade doesn't seem to be working. If that's the case, how do I get this license?

Perhaps, I need to install a more up-to-date version of the firmware?

Your help and comments are appreciated.

Thanks

Victor

Hello @Victor A,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

In regards to the License:

Please be aware of the following License requirement:

The use of Polycom UC Software versions 4.1.X (“Software”) requires the purchase of a separate Software license for every device that will use the Software in a Lync / Skype for Business environment. You may not install, access, or use the Software in a Lync / Skype for Business environment on more devices than are listed on your license until additional licenses have been purchased and authorized by Polycom. These licenses should be purchased from the same company from which you purchased the devices. You may operate devices against a Lync / Skype for Business server for trial purposes for up to 30 days without purchasing a license. Use of the Software is subject to the terms and conditions of the End User License Agreement.

Polycom reserves the right to audit your deployment to verify that you have sufficient licenses to match the number of devices being used.

Hello Steffen,

Thanks for the reply. Just to confirm, so we do need an honor-based license from Polycom if we wanted to use this 2200-48350-025 model, this is besides the one we already acquired from Microsoft for Skype for Business correct?

I am assuming the 2200-48350-019 model already comes with this license by default? I don't remember us buying any extra licenses when we acquired our existing phones from another provider.

Thanks

Victor

Hello @Victor A,

the -019 PArt Number is a higher price than the -025 which add's the difference for the license.
