Hi,

we have updated two VVX 500 to the new 5.6.0 firmware.

In the release we found following lines:

Busy options for incoming calls

Polycom phones support Busy Options to help you manage incoming calls when you are already on another call. With this feature, you can forward an incoming call to voicemail or reject the call with a ‘busy’ notification.

If we set call.callWaiting.enable="0", the second caller is send directly to the voicemail

How can we enable the busy notification for the second caller, so no voicemail -> just the busy tone?

Thanks for any help!

Regards

Hello hsekoa,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

This is a feature of the Skype for Business server so I would check with Microsoft how to activate this. The parameter you are refering to is an openSIP parameter.

Hello Steffen,

thank you very much for your fast reply. Well, perhaps I mixed the parameter, but I will explain it now in a better way. We activated BusyOnBusy since it's release from Microsoft in July 2016. But we faced three bugs / issues, which we can't accept:

- If BusyOnBusy is set on Skype for Business Server and a second call arrives, you get a mail about a missed call in your mailbox, but this will take 5 - 10 minutes. We noticed, this could be a "Better Together" issue, because we get this on VVX 500 and CX 600. Without Polycom phones (just with a headset for example) the mail will arrive immediately.

- There is a bug on Skype for Business Server, that some users where I enabled BusyOnBusy, will stay continuous busy after few days. They won't be reachable anymore until I disable the feature for them.

- If I enable call forwarding on VVX500 by pressing softkey, the feature BusyOnBusy for the loged in user of VVX500 will be immediately disabled on the Skype for Business Server.

We are very upset with this Skype for Business feature so we were happy to read in release notes of 5.6.0 that the VVX will support this feature now. I tried to disable the BusyOnBusy option for my Skype for Business user on Server and DISABLED "Call Waiting" on VVX (Settings -> Basic -> Preferences -> Call Waiting). With this feature all of my three bugs are solved, but the second caller will go immediately to my voicemail. We know this feature was also in VVX in former firmware versions.

Polycom mentioned in the release notes of 5.6.0:

Busy Options for Incoming Calls

Polycom phones support Busy Options to help you manage incoming calls when you are already on another

call. With this feature, you can forward an incoming call to voicemail or reject the call with a ‘busy’

notification.

Is there a new option to enable Busy Options on VVX without enabling BusyOnBusy on Skype for Business Server, which causes a lot of bugs? We can't find any difference between former firmware versions for example 5.5.2 to 5.6.0. At the moment I can't see any new feature concerning BusyOption on VVX. Is there a possibility to reject the call with "busy" notification for second caller?

Hello hsekoa,

If an issue occurs both the same way if you use a VVX and a CX phone then from a Polycom perspective this is either working as designed by our Partner Microsoft and any change to the behaviour needs to be requested from our Partner Microsoft.

Any Issues on the Skype for Business server need to be reported to our Partner Microsoft.

Any bugs on the VVX phone need to be reported to your Polycom reseller as a ticket,

In order to raise a support ticket you need to work with your Polycom reseller as they need to do this for you. End Customers are usually unable to open a ticket directly with Polycom support.

If this is some sort of an Internet discounter please post either your phone's MAC address or your Polycom devices serial so I can look up who would be able to support you. This may not be who you purchased the Polycom device from.

Any changes to the current UC Software:

Jan 03, 2013 Question: How can I request a change to the current Polycom SIP / UC Software?

Resolution: Please check => here <=

Hello all.

We have the same bug with Busy-on-Busy options as hsekoa describes.

Today Polycom released v5.7.0 and we tested also the Busy options.

We activate the Busy options in Skype for Business 2015 CU6 (!!, Dec. 2017) for SfB users signed in on Polycom VVX 411, 501 and 601 with 5.7.0.

When we acticate or deactivate call forwarding via the call forwarding function on the Polycom, the SfB user losses its busy option in the SfB. We can verify in all labs (verified with Get-CsBusyOptions).

We also had a Microsoft ticket opend for that for months, Microsoft told us, that there must be an opened Polycom ticket. Could you confirm this?

Regards

Frank

Hello all,

Yes this is a known issue and I can only ask you to open a ticket via your reseller. End Customers cannot open a ticket with Polycom directly.
