We have VVX301 that get their config files / firmware from ftp.domain.local  We have DHCP options configured to point the server.  We know this communication is working because the device will get some configs and upload application logs.

If I focus on a sample phone:

Phone Model	VVX 310
Part Number	3111-46161-001 Rev:A
MAC Address	64:16:7F:AB:9B:E1
IP Mode	IPv4
IP Address	172.28.120.38
UC Software Version	5.7.1.2205
Updater Version	5.9.1.1991

I have 64167fab9be1.cfg file in the root of the FTP folder.  The contents of this file are below:

This contents of the POC folder is for version 5.7.1.2205, and the subfolder 5.8.1 contains 5.8.1.7278.  I move files back and foth to the root of POC folder when testing.

the only way i can get the phone to update to the version in the root of the POC folder is to do a factory reset on the phone.  Our gol is to just drop the new files in the folder and within 24 hrs the phone would auto check in then update or worst case on next reboot.

What am i missing?  In "Updating firmware via provisioning server" post I see there was instruction on setting:

<test device.set="1"
	device.prov.upgradeServer.set="1"
		device.prov.upgradeServer="" />

I was unclear of the following:

  1. Did this apply to me?  If so...
  2. What does "test" define?
  3. What file does this get put into?  For my case would it be 64167fab9be1.cfg?
  4. Are there any XML header/footers required in that file?

Thanks

Hello @OHTorx ,

Welcome to the Poly Community.

First of all, based on at least your phone with the MAC 64167FAB9BE1

Please be aware of the following when utilizing UCS 4.1.0 or later:

The use of Polycom UC Software versions 4.1.X (“Software”) requires the purchase of a separate Software license for every device that will use the Software in Skype for Business environment. You may not install, access, or use the Software in Skype for Business environment on more devices than are listed on your license until additional licenses have been purchased and authorized by Polycom. These licenses should be purchased from the same company from which you purchased the devices. You may operate devices against Skype for Business server for trial purposes for up to 30 days without purchasing a license. Use of the Software is subject to the terms and conditions of the End User License Agreement.

Polycom reserves the right to audit your deployment to verify that you have sufficient licenses to match the number of devices being used.

Information in regards to License Part Numbers can be found here
