I have some analog SoundStation conference phones currently connected to a Cisco IP-PBX (with analog cards). The PBX transmits calls to the PSTN via a PRI. I am looking into replacing this PRI with a VoIP service with Verizon. That would mean that the calls would be compressed with a G729 codec to be carried over the Internet. Would that affect the quality of the conference calls at all? Verizon would give me the option to specify a list of DIDs for which the G711 codec (no compression) should be used to carry the calls over the Internet, would that eliminate any potential issues?
Thank you for your insight,
Marc

Hello Marc,
welcome to the Polycom Community.
G.729 uses less bandwidth on your Internet Connection but will probably cause issues when sending DTMF tones to an external Conference bridge.
Using G.711 uses more bandwidth but should be OK with DTMF.
Your provider should be able to explain this in more detail.
