Hi. I have just purchased a Voicestation 300. It appears to start up OK, but there is no dial tone. I have tried it on 2 unrelated analogue lines, which work fine with normal phones. The main unit powers up, beeps when you dial, etc., but no dial tone (and cannot ring out or in).

I notice the power supply is not quite the same as in the manuals - it has only 2 phone line inputs and what looks like an audio plug, but it is clearly marked for Vocestation 300 (and 500). SN H81219D23D79

I can imagine the problem is in the cable, the supply, the main unit or it just is not compatible with UK analogue liens for some reason.

Does anybody have any suggestion before I return this?

Hello Ant,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

Has this unit been purchased in the UK and did it come with a UK phone plug or is any adaptor used ?

It was purchased in the UK with UK phone plug.

However I have solved the problem - which may be helpful for others. It appears the supplied UK phone plug cable has more wiring connected than standard analogue cables - but I was using the existing cable attached to the wall socket, which is an obvious thing to do. Once I used the supplied cable, everything works perfectly!

Hello ant,

more likely the western plug of the existing cable that you plugged into the Voice Station 300 was not wired the US way with the 2 middle pins used.

Best regards
