Changing the Provisioning FTP Server

Changing the Provisioning FTP Server

Origionally when VVX phones were deployed, a centralized provisioning server was installed in our centralized datacenter.  DHCP in each office pointed to that location, phones were configured sucessfully.  For new office migrations to Skype/Polycom VVX Phones, we have began deploying a local provisioning server in each office.  new phones out of box setup and provision much faster when it comes to pulling new firmware if the provisioning server is local.

We would like to update our initial site so it uses the new local provisioning server we have recently deployed instead of the old centralized server.  We updated DHCP on one of our subnets to reference the new provisioning server but the phones don't seem to be picking up the change.

Does this type of change require a factory reset?

Re: Changing the Provisioning FTP Server

Hello Matt

I would assume after the lease time expires it would read the new DHCP option. Maybe it needs a reboot but not a factory reset.

Re: Changing the Provisioning FTP Server

DHCP lease time was 1 day.  We did see the phones pick up the new provisioning server, however they still weren't updating.  Turns out the windows firewall was enabled on the provisioning server.  Once that was disabled, we saw phones start writing logs to the log directory on the provisioning server.  We forced a reboot and boom it picked up the new firmware.   We are good to go.  Thank you for the reply.
